In 1946, after World War II, learning the floor covering business through the G.I. Bill, Dale Forbess went from installing to managing many stores in Galion, Marion, Bucyrus, Delaware and Findlay, Ohio. In 1954 Dale started Forbess Floor Covering in Perrysburg, Ohio. He went back to installing in 1982 to teach his son Dewey the foundation of the floor covering business. In 1989 Dewey, along with a partner, started Commercial Carpet And Tile in Fostoria, Ohio. Dale continued as a sales person with Commercial Carpet and Tile for a few years until retiring. In 1995 Dewey sold Commercial Carpet And Tile and went back to installing in Findlay Ohio, to teach his son Chris the foundation of the floor covering business. In 2001 Dewey, along with his wife Kirsten, made their move to Alaska. They started out installing in Soldotna, and soon moved to Wasilla. In 2003 Chris, along with his wife Maggie, moved to Alaska, and they have been growing with Forbess Floor Covering ever since.
